The community celebration for President George H.W. Bush's 90th birthday took place on June 12 at White Columns, the home of the First Families Museum — an exhibit in honor of the Bush family. The event, attended by more than 500 community members and out of state visitors a "90 for the 90th cake baking contest," the creation of this happy birthday sing-a-long video, and birthday card decorating. The event was free and open to the public.
The celebration included performances from the Kennebunk Twirlers and the 207 Band, as well as a visit from actress and singer Jane Morgan who led the crowd in singing Happy Birthday to President George H.W. Bush along with actors from the The Arundel Barn Playhouse.
There was also a competition among the 90 cakes, with The Kennebunk Inn taking home first place for a professional cake, Sonja Midgley taking home first in the adult category and Jillian LaPoint in first place in the youth category.
And, of course, there were plenty of birthday greetings for the President!
